Create custom workflows for your existing Vonage Business Communications numbers by leveraging Nexmo, the Vonage API platform, to control the flow of your calls. Usage for the Nexmo Voice API is included with the purchase of Smart Number.

When you use the Nexmo Voice API with your Vonage service, you have the flexibility to create customized call experiences for your customers including:

  • An Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system that links to your CRM with personalized menu options.
  • Voicebots that use natural language processing and/or AI to answer simple questions spoken by your customers.
  • Automatic proxying of local numbers based on the area code dialed.
  • Voice broadcasts to alert your customers of important news or events.
  • Real-time sentiment analysis to gauge the mood of the call.
  • Calendar integration to check if you are free or busy so calls can be routed accordingly.
Add Smart Number
Call us at 1300 10 81 84 to add a Smart Number.
Set Up Smart Number
  1. Sign up for a Nexmo account if you have not yet done so.
  2. Create a Nexmo Application.
  3. Sign in to the Admin Portal.
  4. Click Business Apps, then click Smart Numbers.
  5. Hover over the Smart Number you want to set up and click the Pencil icon.
  6. Set the following options:
     
    NameEnter a unique name to identify this Smart Number.
    LocationSelect a location.
    Direct Dial NumbersAssign an available telephone number.
    Nexmo Application IDEnter the Nexmo Application ID.
    Service StatusToggle to Active. To stop the service, toggle to Inactive.
Troubleshoot Issue

The error Nexmo Application ID is already used on another Smart Number. Please enter a different Nexmo Application ID displays when the Nexmo Application ID is in use elsewhere. Select a different Nexmo Application ID or remove the existing Application ID from the other service.

Can I assign multiple numbers to a single Smart Number?
Yes, you can assign multiple phone numbers to one Smart Number with a single Nexmo Application ID.


Can one number be used for multiple Application IDs?
No, while you can use multiple numbers with a single Nexmo Application ID, each number can only be used with one Nexmo Application ID.


Does my Smart Number service include a number?
No, a number is not included with the Smart Number service, but you can purchase additional numbers in the store in your Online Account.


Do I have to pay for usage in addition to the monthly cost of the service?
No, usage is included with the cost of service.
