Smart Number

Create custom workflows for your existing VBC phone calls through our Vonage API platform, where access to this platform is included with the purchase of a Smart Number.

Use your Smart number to create special call experiences for your customers, such as the following:

  • Implement an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system with personalized menu options that link to your CRM.
  • Enable Voicebots that use natural language and/or AI to answer simple questions.
  • Automate proxy of local phone numbers based on the area code dialed.
  • Send voice broadcasts to alert your customers of important news or events.
  • Gauge the mood of a call through real-time sentiment analysis.
  • Integrate Calendar to route calls based on availability.

Add Smart Number
  1. Sign in to the Admin Portal.
  2. Click Store, then click Add-Ons.
  3. Select the quantity of Smart Number you want and then click Add.
  4. Click the Cart at the top right and then click Checkout.
  5. Review your order summary and click Submit Order.
Set Up Smart Number
  1. Sign up for a Vonage API account if you do not have one.
  2. Create a Vonage API Platform Voice Application.
  3. Sign in to the Admin Portal.
  4. Click Business Apps, then click Smart Numbers.
  5. Hover over the Smart Number you want to set up, click the Pencil icon, then update these options:
     
    NameEnter a unique name to identify this Smart Number.
    LocationSelect a location.
    Direct Dial NumbersAssign an available telephone number.
    Vonage API Application IDEnter a unique Vonage API Application ID. 

    NOTE:
    If an Application ID in Use error is returned, it means the Vonage API Application ID you specified is in use with another service. You must enter a unique Vonage Application ID. 
    Service StatusToggle to Active. To stop the service, toggle to Inactive.
Frequently Asked Questions

Can I assign multiple phone numbers to a single Smart Number?  
Yes. Each Smart Number has a unique Vonage API Application ID. While multiple phone numbers can be assigned to the same Smart Number, you can not assign the same phone numbers to other Smart Numbers. 

Can I use the same phone numbers with multiple Smart Numbers?
No. Each phone number must be associated with a single Smart Number and its unique Vonage API Application ID. 

Does my Smart Number service include a phone number?
No. If you need additional phone numbers, you can purchase them in the Admin Portal.

Do I have to pay for usage in addition to the monthly cost of the service?
No. Usage is included with the cost of service.
