Headset Integrations

The Vonage Business Desktop app now offers headset integration with both Jabra and Plantronics headsets.

JabraThe VBC Desktop app integration works with all supported Jabra headsets automatically.  There is no need to install any 3rd party software.
Supported call controls include:

  • Answer
  • End Call
  • Reject
  • Hold
  • Resume
  • Redial
  • Mute/Unmute

NOTE: Supported features vary by headset model.
Known Issues/Limitations:

  • Using the Hold function while a call is muted, unmutes the caller once the hold is released with some models.
  • For headset models that have a base (Jabra Pro 9000 series and Engage 75), call waiting does not work when using the answer button on the base.  The second call cannot be answered.  Use the answer button on the headset instead.
  • For MAC OS users, if the audio source is changed during a call, the call controls no longer work for the duration of the call
PlantronicsThe VBC Desktop app integration works with both the Voyager and Savi series Plantronics headsets.  Some features work by default (e.g. volume up/down and mute/unmute).  Enhanced call control features (e.g. the ability to answer/end calls) requires the installation of the Plantronics Hub app.

NOTE: The Hub app must be running for enhanced call controls to work.  If the Hub app is not running when the VBC desktop app is started, the VBC desktop app attempts to initialize the VBC Hub app.
  1. Install the app:

    1. Download the app from Plantronics.
    2. Install the app to the following directory:

      • MacOS: /Applications/Plantronics Hub.app
      • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Plantronics\Spokes3G (this should be the default directory)
  2. Connect a headset:

    1. Start the Plantronics Hub app.
    2. Connect a supported headset (Savi or Voyager series).  The headset should appear within the app.
    3. In the app, go to Settings > General.
    4. Verify that Audio Sensing is set to On, and Default Phone Line is set to PC.
    5. Make sure the headset is set as the default audio device on the PC (not just the VBC app).
Headset Call Controls via WebHID

Vonage supports call controls using the WebHID protocol, which is supported by most major headset vendors. Call Controls should work with all headsets that adhere to the WebHID standard. The following Call Controls are available via WebHID:

  • Answer
  • Reject
  • Disconnect
  • Mute/Unmute

Jabra and Poly/Plantronics headsets are still supported via vendor-specific headset integrations.

NOTE: Customers should check in the headset documentation or consult the headset vendor regrading their support for WebHID. Some vendors may support WebHID in their newer models, but not the old, legacy ones.
