Add a Phone to an Extension

You can add up to five phones (devices) to an extension.

  • Both the Super User and Administrators can add devices to any extension on the account. 
  • End Users can add a device to their own extension only.

Set Up by Super User or Administrator
  1. Sign in to the Admin Portal.
  2. Click Phone System, then click Extensions.
  3. Hover over the targeted extension, then click the Pencil icon.
  4. Click Devices, then click Add Device.
  5. Complete the following fields:
     
    Device NameSpecifies an identifier for the device.
    LocationSelect the site where the device is located.
    Emergency Services LocationsSelect the address associated with emergency services for the device.
    MakeSelect the manufacturer of your device.
    ModelSelect the type of device. 
    MAC AddressEnter the MAC Address, found on the label on the back or bottom of the phone.

    See Duplicate MAC Address Error if you receive an error message.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Connect the phone to the network and power it on. If it was already powered on, reboot it.

    NOTE: Your phone checks for available updates when it reboots. If an update is found, it can take up to 10 minutes to complete.
  8. Verify that the extension number is displayed on the phone once the reboot is complete.
     
    If displayed...Your phone is registered and ready for use.
    If not displayed...

Set Up by End User

Before you add phones to your extension, ensure your Account Administrator has made these devices available to you for use.

  1. Sign in to the Desktop App.
  2. Click the Avatar (initials at top left), then click Settings.
  3. Click Devices, scroll down, then click Add A Device.
  4. Complete the following fields:
     
    Device NameSpecifies an identifier for the device.
    LocationSelect the site where this device is located.
    Emergency Services LocationSelect the address associated with emergency services for the device.
    MakeSelect the manufacturer of your phone.
    ModelSelect the type of your phone.
    MAC AddressEnter the MAC Address, found on the label on the back or bottom of the phone.


    See Duplicate MAC Address Error if you receive an error message.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Connect your phone to your network and power it on. If it was already powered on, reboot it.
