Simultaneous Ring

Updated: 1/1/2025 2:44 AM

Incoming calls can ring up to five different numbers or extensions at the same time and calls that are unanswered go to voicemail. Calls forwarded to international phone numbers or geographic areas that are not included in your plan are subject to additional charges.

Super Users and Administrators can set Simultaneous Ring for any extension. End Users can set for their own extension only.

NOTE: If you use the Vonage Business Communications Mobile App, do not forward calls to the mobile phone's number.  This causes the mobile phone to receive two calls at the same time, which immediately sends the call to the mobile phone's voicemail.

Troubleshoot Simultaneous Ring

If the Simultaneous Ring feature is not working as expected:

  • Ensure the simultaneous ring feature is properly configured for all the included Extensions and phones.
  • Confirm that the appropriate extensions have been selected and that any phone numbers have been entered correctly.
  • Ensure that all Vonage phones involved in the simultaneous ring setup are properly registered through Vonage. Unregistered devices may cause issues. See Device Registration for details or to confirm registration status:

    1. Sign in to the Admin Portal.
    2. Click Phone System, then Devices.
    3. Click View Registration/Provisioning Status.
  • Make test calls to each extension or phone number included in the simultaneous ring setup to ensure each device rings properly when called.
  • If you have multiple devices set to ring simultaneously, try reducing the number and see if the problem persists. This helps isolate the issue to a specific phone or device.
  • When ringing additional VBC extensions or phone numbers, check the settings for each extension as well as each phone to ensure they are correctly entered and there are no features enabled, such as call forwarding, Do Not Disturb, or voicemail, that may interfere with the call or cause it to be answered unexpectedly.
  • If ringing a phone number from another service (such as a cell phone), check the settings (such as voicemail and call forwarding) for those services.
